There are 5 different Hepatitis viruses – A, B, C, D and E

The main ways Hepatitis A and E is transmitted are through tainted food and water. The disease is prevalent in places with inadequate sanitation and a lack of safe drinking water.

Contact with blood or body fluids from an infected individual can spread Hepatitis B. Additionally, childbirth and delivery are the times when mothers spread Hepatitis B most frequently.

Blood-to-blood contact, such as unsafe injection techniques and insufficient sanitation of medical equipment, is the main way that Hepatitis C is transmitted.

Only those who have already contracted Hepatitis B can contract Hepatitis D, which is transmitted by contact with infected blood.
