Helpful tools to check and manage your Discovery benefits and cover

The Discovery Benefits And Cover section of the website will answer most of your questions. Visit page.

Also remember the WhatsApp Ask Discovery number. Register here.

To access the WhatsApp number, log into Discovery’s website, click on the Medical Aid menu and on the green button to Register For WhatsApp. On the new screen, click on Register Here and then follow the instructions. Save the number on your phone, and send a message on WhatsApp when you have a question.

To find information on Benefits and Cover on the website, click on the Medical Aid menu and select Benefits and Cover.

The “most popular” benefits are listed at the top, as well as tools to check and manage your benefits and a general overview of day-to-day vs hospital benefits.

These tools include:

• Benefit and limit tracker: To track the usage of your benefits and what limits you have reached or not reached.
• Do We Cover: If you are having a particular procedure done, or need to take a particular medicine, you can check how Discovery pays for it in this section.
• View Your Chronic Record: Have a look at what you are accepted for, what medication is approved, and what consultations or tests are also included in the cover.
• Care programmes: If you are approved for the Cardio or Diabetes management programs, the detail of the benefits provided will be in this section.

The Manage Your Health Plan section is where you find your membership certificate or tax certificate, and your personal details including your electronic membership card. You can also give your doctor permission to view your health records in this section.

If you select Find Important Documents And Certificates, the following page will give you access to:

• Health plan guides: Contribution tables, series plan guides, selecting and changing your plan and network lists.
• Application forms: Membership applications (adding members), benefit applications (chronic, PMB), administrative applications (special MSA payments, bank detail changes, etc) and consent applications (third party consent to see your records).

Please note that the Discovery App has the following options:

• Find and download important documents.
• Submit and track your claims, incl medicine with MedXpress.
• View and track your benefits.
• Find doctors and hospitals near you.
• Emergency Assist.

Is Your Password Secure?

Is your password easy or hard for someone to guess?

If you are a Discovery Bank client, remember that your normal Discovery website password is also your Bank password. If you have given it to a third party, then they can access your bank app as well as your Vitality Active Rewards.

Please make sure your password is secure.

Vitality During Lockdown Level 3

Vitality Active Rewards goals are back up to the maximum of 600 points. You will see your goals increasing from 300 to 600 over the next few weeks.

Gyms are open but with limited capacity. If you can’t access your gym, or prefer not to, then you can still earn points through the Vitality Home Workout Channel, Virgin Active or Planet Fitness home workout channels, JEFF online gym, or from steps or your fitness device heart rate workouts.

Please note:

Vitality Home Workout Channel or gym online workouts: you need to stream uninterrupted for 30 minutes to earn 50 points. Your points usually reflect the next day. If you use your gym’s platform for online workouts, the workout will count as a gym visit to keep your gym benefits at the maximum.

JEFF Online Workouts: To earn your 50 points for streaming the online class, you need to stream on the app, not on Facebook or YouTube. You need to be a JEFF Life member for this (R150 pm).

Vitality and Bounti

Do you have a mini trampoline?

Bounti is a new Vitality fitness partner. You can join Bounti through the Octiv network and earn 50 points for online classes and 100 points for in person classes. There are classes for kids and for adults.

You can try out all 20 of Bounti’s weekly live classes in August, for FREE. Online classes are usually R100 a class. You can check out the class schedule here.

If you are in JHB, in person classes are R210 drop in, R975 for 5 classes, or R1800 for 10 classes.

Double Your Discovery Miles Day

Discovery Bank will double your Miles on the 15th of every month when you purchase at a partner store. Download the latest version of the Discovery Bank app, to make sure you get your discount at the Miles partner stores.

As a qualifying Discovery Bank client with Vitality Money, you can get up to 20% discount at partner stores, based on your activities and status levels. Your percentage will double on the 15th of every month (excl travel partners).

To use your Miles in person in a partner store:

1. 1. Log into your Discovery Bank app.
   2. Go to the Discovery Miles dashboard and select Pay in-store.
   3. Enter the amount you want to spend in Rands (you will see your discount on screen).
   4. Select Generate Voucher.
   5. Present the code to the cashier to scan for payment.

To use your Discovery Miles online in a partner store:

1. 1. On check out, choose to pay with Discovery Miles.
   2. Log into your Discovery account.
   3. Enter the OTP you receive.
   4. Enter the amount you want to spend in Rands (this is where the discount will be applied).
   5. Complete your purchase.
